Our induction days are designed to help new students settle into college, meet their peers, understand their course requirements, complete important enrolment activities and gain access to the digital systems they’ll need throughout their studies.
Whether you’re wondering what happens on your first day of college, how to set up your student accounts or what you need to do before your course begins, this guide will tell you everything you need to know.

The induction programme runs over two days:
- Day 1 – Main Student Induction
- Day 2 – IT & Academic Training
We encourage all new students to attend both days so they can complete the essential activities and receive the information they need before beginning their studies.

Day 1 – Main Student Induction
Your first day at Anglo Skills College is all about welcoming you to the college community and helping you understand what to expect from your course and student experience.
10:00–10:30 | Arrival & Registration
Your first stop will be Reception, where you’ll complete your arrival and registration.
Please make sure you arrive on time so that registration can be completed smoothly and you’re ready for the rest of the day’s activities.
10:30–11:15 | College Tour
Get to know your new learning environment with a guided college tour in groups.
The tour will help you become familiar with the college facilities and key areas, making it easier to find your way around when your course begins.
11:15–12:15 | Document Signing & Student Information
During this session, our team will guide you through important student forms, agreements and signatures.
This is an important part of your enrolment process and gives you the opportunity to ask questions about any documentation you’re required to complete.
Student photographs may also be taken during this session.
12:15–12:30 | Transition to the Hall & Induction Information
Students will move to the hall and get settled for the main induction programme.
12:30–12:40 | Principal’s Welcome & Code of Conduct
The Principal will officially welcome our new students to Anglo Skills College.
You’ll also receive an introduction to the Student Code of Conduct, including important information about your responsibilities as a student.
Why is attendance important?
Regular attendance is an essential part of your student journey. During induction, you’ll learn about the college’s attendance expectations and why attending your classes consistently is important for your academic progress and success.
12:40–13:00 | Student Welcome Presentation & Icebreaker
You’ll have the opportunity to meet other students through a student welcome presentation and icebreaker activity.
Starting college is a great opportunity to make new connections, and these activities are designed to help you feel comfortable and part of the Anglo Skills College community.
13:00–13:30 | Break
Students will have a 30-minute break before the afternoon sessions begin.
13:30–14:00 | Course Induction
This session provides an introduction to your course and programme of study.
You’ll learn more about:
- Your programme structure
- Course expectations
- Academic responsibilities
- Student responsibilities
- What you can expect during your studies
- How to make the most of your time at college
Understanding these expectations from the beginning will help you start your course with confidence.
14:00–14:30 | Student Support & Additional Services
At Anglo Skills College, we want our students to have access to the right support throughout their studies.
You’ll be introduced to student support and additional services, including information about where you can go for help, guidance and advice during your time at college.
14:30–15:00 | Student Photos
The final scheduled session of Day 1 is the student photo session.
Your photograph will be used for your student ID card.
Day 2 – IT & Academic Training
Day 2 focuses on the technology, digital platforms and academic processes you’ll need to know before starting your course.
You’ll receive practical guidance on your Microsoft account, Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Attendance App and other essential student systems.
10:00–11:00 | IT Induction & VLE Training
The day begins with an IT induction and VLE training session.
The Virtual Learning Environment will be an important part of your learning experience, giving you access to course-related information, learning resources and other digital content.
10:30–11:30 | Microsoft Account & VLE Account Set-Up
Students will be divided into groups to complete their account set-up.
Group A: Microsoft Account
Group B: VLE Account
Our team will provide guidance and support to help ensure you can access your accounts successfully.
11:30–12:00 | Group Swap
The groups will swap so that all students can complete both their Microsoft account and VLE account set-up.
By the end of these sessions, you should be familiar with the key digital platforms you’ll use during your studies.
12:00–12:30 | Break
Students will have a 30-minute break.
12:30–13:15 | VLE Login & Hands-On Demonstration
This practical session will help you become comfortable using the Virtual Learning Environment.
You’ll be shown how to log in and navigate the VLE, with a hands-on demonstration to help you understand how the platform will support your learning.
13:15–13:45 | Attendance App Registration & Support Services Overview
You’ll complete your Attendance App registration and receive further information about the support services available to students.
Understanding how to record and maintain your attendance is an important part of starting your course successfully.
13:45–14:15 | English Language Test
Students will complete an English Language Test as part of the induction process.
This is an important academic activity and will help the college understand your current level of English language proficiency.
14:15–14:30 | Pearson Registration Fees & Enrolment Letters
You’ll receive important information about Pearson registration fees and enrolment letters.
Our team will provide guidance on the relevant registration and enrolment requirements.
14:30–15:00 | Final Q&A & Induction Wrap-Up
We’ll finish the two-day induction programme with a final Q&A and wrap-up session.
This is your opportunity to ask any remaining questions and make sure you understand what happens next as you begin your course.

To make your induction experience as smooth as possible, we recommend arriving prepared and allowing plenty of time to complete registration.

How long is the induction programme?
The student induction programme takes place over two days, with Day 1 focusing on the main college induction and Day 2 focusing on IT and academic training.
What happens on the first day of college?
On Day 1, students will register at Reception, take part in a college tour, complete important documents, attend the Principal’s welcome, learn about the Code of Conduct and attendance, receive course information, meet student support teams and take part in a welcome icebreaker.
What happens on Day 2?
Day 2 focuses on IT induction and academic training. Students will set up their Microsoft and VLE accounts, learn how to use the VLE, register for the Attendance App, complete an English Language Test and receive information about Pearson registration and enrolment letters.
Will I receive help setting up my student accounts?
Yes. Our team will provide support during the Microsoft account and VLE account set-up sessions, as well as during the hands-on VLE training.
Will I have my photo taken?
Yes. A dedicated student photo session is scheduled for 14:30–15:00 on Day 1. Student photographs may also be taken earlier during the document-signing session.
What if I have questions during induction?
There will be opportunities to ask questions throughout the programme, with a dedicated final Q&A session on Day 2. Our team will be available to provide guidance and support.
